Former Kentucky offensive line coach John Schlarman has posthumously earned the Broyles Lifetime Achievement Award, the Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation announced today.
Schlarman, who passed away back on Nov. 12, 2020, earns the prestigious honor after cementing himself as one of the greatest assistants in college football and becoming inarguably one of the best in Kentucky football history.
The former UK coach was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma back in the summer of 2018, but continued to coach through treatments and the ensuing side effects, failing to miss a game until Oct. 24, 2020 at Missouri. His final in-person coaching appearance came on Oct.
