A little more than a year ago, Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari and Louisville men’s basketball coach Chris Mack were publicly exchanging rivalrous barbs ahead of the 2020-21 season, a season which saw the Cardinals defeat the Wildcats.
This week, though, Mack is no longer Louisville’s coach, as the school and Mack agreed to part ways.
Mack will receive $4.8 million as part of the separation agreement. He hasn't yet said if he'll return to coaching.
“I feel bad for he and his family. Coaching’s a hard profession, and we’re all 30 days from bankruptcy,” Calipari said, speaking metaphorically.
