LEXINGTON — The recent local flair to John Calipari's Kentucky basketball recruiting strategy appears to be continuing.
Lyon County class of 2024 star Travis Perry tweeted Saturday he had received a scholarship offer from the Wildcats after a visit to UK's campus. A first-team all-state selection by The Courier Journal as a sophomore, Perry ranked ninth in the state in scoring last season (27.5 points per game).
A varsity player for Lyon County since the seventh grade, Perry has already totaled 3,190 points in his career. With two seasons of Kentucky high school basketball left, Perry is on pace to shatter Kelly "King" Coleman's state record for career points (4,337), which has stood since Coleman finished his career at Wayland High School in 1956.
