It was a one-in-a-lifetime night Friday evening at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as the 11 newest members took their place in the birthplace of basketball, and John Calipari joined Kentucky Wildcats great Louie Dampier among those inducted into it.
"I have been blessed to have all those opportunities," said Calipari. "The reason I stand here is more about the players I coached. I'm here because I coached the greatest group of kids in my time that anyone could imagine."
Calipari and Dampier become the ninth and tenth UK representatives to join the Hall of Fame, and it was a long time coming for the former ABA great who helped lead the Kentucky Colonels to the ABA Championship in 1975.
