LEXINGTON — Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari remains hopeful that Wake Forest transfer Olivier Sarr will be eligible to play for Kentucky this season.
"We feel confident, but you never know until you hear it’s good to go," Calipari said Tuesday in a Zoom news conference with reporters. "He’s got a great case, but we’ll wait to hear."
Sarr, who averaged 13.7 points and nine rebounds per game as a junior at Wake Forest, is projected to start at center for Kentucky if eligible. At 7 feet, 255 pounds, the native of Toulouse, France, would provide the physical veteran presence the Wildcats' roster lacked after the departure of eight of the nine players who scored a point last season.
