As the start of the college football season draws closer, one of the big non-QB questions regarding the Kentucky Wildcats is the status of redshirt sophomore pass-rusher JJ Weaver.
Weaver put together an All-SEC Freshman campaign in 2020 by recording 33 total tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, two QB hurries, and a pass breakup playing only against SEC opponents.
His season, however, came to a painful end in a 30-13 loss to Florida on November 28, as Weaver tore his ACL and missed the Cats’ final two games.
Weaver a Louisville native is working hard to be ready for Week 1, but head coach Mark Stoops did not reveal if he would indeed be ready when speaking at SEC Media Days in on Tuesday.
