Jabari Johnson: Kentucky’s Most Important Defensive Player

I’m always amused at preseason awards or the infinite “best of” lists that have become a mainstay of summertime sports journalism. I’m as guilty as the professional hacks for writing such rubbish. One accolade that I’m most confident in is naming OLB/DE Jabari Johnson as UK’s Most Important Defensive Player.

After initially signing with the Cats in February of 2010, Jabari gray-shirted and didn’t enroll at UK until January of 2011. The fifth-year senior hails from Stone Mountain’s Stephenson High School. The Georgia school is nationally known for producing high level college football players. During the Brooks tenure and into the Joker regime, UK recruited and signed several Stephenson athletes.
