This morning, the Ivy League announced it is canceling its men’s and women’s basketball conference tournaments over concerns about the coronavirus. The tournaments were scheduled to be played this weekend on Harvard’s campus, but now that 41 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Massachusetts, the school is asking students to leave campus by this weekend and complete the rest of the semester through online classes. The Ivy League’s NCAA Tournament bids will go to the regular season champions, Princeton (women) and Yale (men).
NCAA President Mark Emmert just released a statement in response to the Ivy League’s decision, saying that for now, the NCAA Tournament will go on as planned.
