Isaiah Briscoe came into the University of Kentucky with the reputation of being a flashy player on the perimeter. While very good at creating off the dribble, he had a bad habit of too much “East-to-West” dribbling and footwork. Calipari knew right away he would need to teach Briscoe to play in straight lines in order to maximize Briscoe’s ability.
“East-West stuff ain’t happening here,” Calipari said of Briscoe’s game, during an interview back in September. “It’s not an And1 tape. It’s not what it is. He’s learning to play North and South, and his body is changing and he’s playing faster because his instincts are good.
