Isaiah Briscoe has quickly developed a reputation as this team’s lockdown defender, a badge he wears proudly. Today, Jerry Tipton asked Briscoe if he considered himself this team’s “stopper.”
Briscoe: “Is that what it looked like?”
Tipton: “That is what it looked like.”
Briscoe: “I’m the stopper then.”
Briscoe said that’s a big change for a kid who played “honest defense” growing up. What’s honest defense?
“Take a couple trips off,” he laughed. “Might play defense three trips in a row, then take another couple trips off.”
Now, the staff is giving him the task of shutting down the opponent’s best scorer.
