LEXINGTON – What a difference a few months make.
In September, it was Louisville that wanted out of the annual men’s basketball rivalry game with Kentucky, citing the inequity in having to play a home game in front of few fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kentucky insisted the game be played as the contract stipulated, and Louisville coach Chris Mack eventually agreed to play the game as scheduled.
Now that the game is here, it is Kentucky that would prefer an easier game thanks to its worst start to a season since 1927.
“I offered to postpone the game if they wanted to, and for some reason they told me, no, they’re good, they’ll go,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said Thursday, presumably with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
