NEW ORLEANS — The sixth-ranked Kentucky basketball team lost to unranked UCLA 83-75 Saturday afternoon in the Smoothie King Center.
Kris Wilkes and Aaron Holiday each scored 20 points to lead the Bruins (9-3) and senior forward Thomas Welsh had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
"First off, it shows that we can win even though we're young," Holiday said. "I'm tired of people saying we're not good."
Hamidou Diallo paced the Wildcats (9-2) with 18 points on 7 for 17 shooting. Wenyen Gabriel had 16 points and six rebounds off the bench, and Kevin Knox added 15 points and five rebounds.
