LEXINGTON - If Big Blue Madness is any indication, Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari's preseason praise for sophomore guard Immanuel Quickley is well warranted.
Quickley dominated the 3-point contest, recording the top two single-round scores of the night, taking down freshman guard Tyrese Maxey 24-15 in the final. The win marked Quickley's second straight Big Blue Madness 3-point contest victory.
A week ago, Calipari hyped Quickley as "not even the same player."
"The reason is he's in a different frame of mind," Calipari said. "It's kind of like when P.J. (Washington) came back. P.J. came back, it's not that he just came back, he came back with a different mentality.
