Kentucky may be at its best with three guards on the floor this year. Ashton Hagans, Immanuel Quickley and Tyrese Maxey were UK’s three leading scorers in the exhibition game, and look to be among UK’s best overall players at the moment. Throw in the injury to Nick Richards, a major hit to Kentucky’s extremely thin inside presence, and the case for the three-guard lineup is even stronger.
Immanuel Quickley is all for it. Following his 16-point performance against Georgetown College, he said, “I like playing that way. It’s a little bit more random, I guess, just having three quote-unquote guards — point guards, shooting guards, whatever you want to call them — on the floor.
