I’m a big fan of John Oliver and “Last Week Tonight,” and this week, they pulled their best stunt yet. This year, the New York Yankees eliminated the print-at-home option for tickets, which makes it much more difficult for fans to resell their tickets, a move Yankees COO Lonn Trost justified by saying fans who paid a “substantial amount of money for a ticket” may end up to someone who bought a resold one for cheap, which apparently was a problem.
That’s a pretty snobby way of doing things, so, as a response, Oliver bought tickets in the Yankees’ “Legends Club” premium seating area behind home plate and held a contest to resell them to fans who best dress like they’ve never sat in a premium location before.
