LEXINGTON – When Preston Spradlin interviewed for the full-time head coaching job at Morehead State, his pitch was simple.
“I was the last guy to interview. I told the committee, I said 'Listen, you guys have interviewed a bunch of guys that want to be head coaches; I’m the only one that wants to be the head coach here more than anybody else,’” Spradlin told The Courier Journal this week. “‘I know what it takes to live in Morehead, I know what it takes to build a program in Morehead.’”
Spradlin’s pitch worked.
After being promoted from assistant coach to interim head coach when Sean Woods resigned after two players alleged Woods had assaulted them, Spradlin had led the Eagles to a 12-9 record in the remainder of the 2016-17 season.
