How Kentucky and Louisville are Changing the Governor’s Cup after COVID-19 Cancellation

The coronavirus pandemic put the Governor’s Cup on hold in 2020. Previously scheduled to be played at Cardinal Stadium to end the season, the possibility of playing was taken off the table this summer when the SEC opted to go to a ten-game conference-only schedule.

Next year the Governor’s Cup will resume when Louisville hosts Kentucky at Cardinal Stadium to conclude the 2021 college football season. Information obtained by a Courier-Journal open records request also revealed that Vince Tyra and Mitch Barnhart agreed to terms to extend the series through 2030. A look at the future matchups:
