Hofstra gave Kentucky some fits early on in Sunday’s game, narrowing the Cats’ lead to three with about three minutes left in the half. From there, Kentucky went on a 12-0 run and didn’t look back, but there’s no denying that early on, Hofstra had the Cats figured out. Thanks to USA Today’s Nicole Auerbach, we know why. Hofstra’s coach Joe Mihalich let Auerbach in on their game prep, which focused on two main objectives: limit live-ball turnovers, which lead to Kentucky burning you in transition; and slow Kentucky down by lengthening possessions.
