LEXINGTON – It does not take an expert to summarize Tennessee’s dominance of Kentucky football over the last four decades.
The Volunteers have won 33 of the last 35 games in the series, and Kentucky has not won in Knoxville since 1984.
For the vast majority of that run, the reason for Tennessee’s success has been clear — a significant advantage in talent and depth. But what about the last four seasons when Kentucky seemingly leapfrogged Tennessee in the SEC East pecking order?
As Mark Stoops’ program reached four straight bowl games, it has beaten Tennessee just once in that that span despite the Volunteers posting losing records in 2017 and 2018 and opening the 2019 season with back-to-back losses to Georgia State and BYU.
