South Carolina high school kicker Chance Poore committed to the University of Kentucky on Tuesday.
Poore — a 6-foot-3, 200-pound specialist from Anderson, S.C. — was the Wildcats’ top priority at the position as they searched for a replacement for Austin MacGinnis, the current starter who will be a senior this season.
As a junior last fall, Poore was 6-for-12 on field goals with a long of 48, made 42 of 44 extra-point attempts and had 63 percent of his kickoffs go for touchbacks. He also punts for his high school team.
UK extended a scholarship offer to Poore last month after new special teams coordinator Dean Hood visited his hometown to watch him kick in person.
