1988 Kentucky Mr. Basketball winner Richie Farmer turns 50 years old today! After his outstanding career at Clay County which included winning the 1987 State Championship, Farmer went on to score 898 career points for the Wildcats. During his senior season, Richie helped lead Kentucky to a 29-7 record before bowing out of the NCAA tournament due to a shot that we will not speak of. He was a phenomenal deep threat for that team connecting on 55 of 150 shots from beyond the arc while averaging just under 10 points per game.
Richie was a part of an important transitional period for Kentucky basketball as we went from Eddie Sutton to Rick Pitino.
