NASHVILLE – Losing your two leading scorers to foul trouble less than four minutes into a game is a bold strategy for winning a road conference matchup, but for Kentucky that speed bump was just the latest example of the importance of the Wildcats’ veteran leader.
With freshmen guards Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox both relegated to the bench with two fouls by the 16:43 mark in the first half at Vanderbilt, sophomore guard Isaiah Briscoe knew he would need to play one of his best games to avoid the upset.
And in 39 minutes, a career-high for a regulation game, Briscoe was able to do just that.
