The Grizzlies are expected to announce the promotion of Tayshaun Prince on Saturday, a source confirmed.
Prince will be the franchise's vice president of basketball affairs after working the past two years as a special assistant to the general manager.
Just three years removed from a 14-season NBA playing career, the 39-year-old Prince is expected to serve as a bridge between the locker room and a revamped front office.
Prince played for Kentucky from 1998-2002 and made three Sweet 16 appearances and an Elite Eight appearance with the Wildcats. He is eighth on Kentucky's all-time scoring list with 1,775 points and third on its all-time 3-pointers list.
