Former Kentucky track star Keni Harrison can finally put her 2016 failure behind her.
Five years after failing to qualify for the 2016 Olympics despite entering the U.S. trials as the favorite in the 100-meter hurdles, Harrison qualified for the delayed Tokyo games by winning the event in 12.7 seconds Sunday at the U.S. trials in Eugene, Oregon.
The American record holder in the event at the time, Harrison finished sixth at the 2016 trials. Later that summer she broke the world record with a 12.2-second win at the Muller Anniversary Games in London, England, but was still unable to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
