LEXINGTON - Former North Oldham star Justin Powell is transferring from Auburn to another SEC school.
But it won't be Kentucky.
Powell, a Louisville native who started his high school career at Trinity and ended it at North Oldham after a year at Montverde Academy in Florida, committed to Tennessee on Saturday.
Even if the NCAA adopts transfer reform expected to allow all players to transfer once without sitting out a season, Powell would need the SEC to either abolish its intraconference transfer rule, which requires players transferring from one league school to another to sit out a season regardless of their NCAA transfer eligibility, or grant him a waiver to play for Tennessee next year.
