Football players teach professors what it’s like to be a student-athlete

Bud Dupree, D.J. Warren, Jabari Johnson and Melvin Lewis flipped the script on their professors and fellow classmates for a senior project last semester. The four football Cats invited everyone out to the football facilities to teach them about what it is like to be a student-athlete, balancing work in the classroom and on the gridiron.

Bill Silvia, an Animal Sciences professor, said of the Gridiron Challenge project, “It certainly opened my eyes to just how rigorous the whole experience is for these athletes. Between their practice schedule and what they’re trying to accomplish in the classroom, it’s a very demanding burden we put on these guys.
