LEXINGTON – The new Kentucky women’s basketball coach will not dance at Big Blue Madness like its previous one. But interim head coach Kyra Elzy will bring many of the same philosophies to the job that Matthew Mitchell did.
“Coach (Mitchell) has always empowered everyone on our staff the opportunity to get on the floor and coach and really give our opinion,” Elzy said Friday morning, less than 24 hours after Mitchell’s surprise retirement. “I don’t think it was that big of a shock to the system to the players for me to take over … because that’s what Coach has always empowered us to do.
