On this day one year ago today, the Kentucky Wildcats took over the United Center in Chicago, where they defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels 80-72. The Cats were the No. 19 team in America at the time, while the Heels came in at No. 9.
Keldon Johnson led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Reid Travis with 20 and Tyler Herro with 15. PJ Washington recorded ten rebounds and eight assists to go along with 11 points and two blocked shots.
But it was ultimately Ashton Hagans who stole the show. The then-freshman point guard shut down his UNC counterpart, fellow-freshman Colby White.
