LEXINGTON, Ky. – Five former Wildcats have made Major League Baseball Opening Day rosters and another will serve on a coaching staff as the 2022 season opens on Thursday.
The formers players include:
Andy Green, Bench Coach – Chicago Cubs
Trevor Gott, RHP – Milwaukee Brewers Luke Maile, C – Cleveland Guardians James Paxton, LHP – Boston Red Sox Taylor Rogers, LHP – Minnesota Twins (expected to be traded to San Diego) Evan White, 1B – Seattle Mariners
Additionally, RHP Sean Hjelle (San Francisco), LHP Zach Logue (Oakland), RHP Zach Pop (Miami) and OF Zach Reks (Texas) each are on their organization’s 40-man roster, leaving them tantalizingly close to a big league call up.
