Everybody is feeling the heat across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, even the race horses at Churchill Downs.
With forecasted heat indexes between 105 and 109, Wednesday’s eight-race program has been canceled. It’s just the second time in the racetrack’s 147-year history that extreme heat has sidelined horse racing beneath the Twin Spires. It last occurred in June of 2012. There have been 22 documented weather-related cancellations at Churchill Downs

It may not be the only cancellation this week. Temperatures are expected stay in the upper 90s through Friday.
