Advanced analytic rating systems such as KenPom and the NET have been unkind to the Kentucky basketball program this season, and as a result, some of the most popular Bracketology experts – ESPN’s Joe Lunardi being the most recent – have given the Wildcats the shaft in their latest bracket previews. Just yesterday, Lunardi dropped the Cats from a three-seed to a four-seed in his latest NCAA Tournament projections, despite UK going 2-0 last week with wins over LSU and Florida.
But not everyone at the Worldwide Leader in Sports is ignoring the Wildcats.
One of Lunardi’s colleagues over at ESPN, Myron Medcalf, released an article separating the “real” contenders from the “fake” this college basketball season.
