Early Voting is the winner of the 147th Preakness Stakes as the second leg of the Triple Crown took place on Saturday afternoon at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
Going off the board at 5/1, jockey Jose L. Ortiz rode the three-year-old thoroughbred to a clean win with trainer Chad Brown and owner Seth Klarman. The horse had a great pedigree and was bought for $1.75 million as a yearling and that investment seems to have been a smart move.
Early Voting took the lead early and set the pace in the race doing a good job of holding off heavy favorite Epicenter who was looking to make a move up the rail down the stretch.
