After falling behind 11-7 early on, No. 4 Frederick Douglass used a 12-0 run bridging the first and second quarters to get ahead of No. 17 Madison Central. As a result, the Broncos rolled to a comfortable 74-55 win.
Playing in Richmond, KY in front of a large contingent of Madison Central fans, Armelo Boone keyed the spurt with 10 first-half points while Kai Simpson had a great second half and finished with 19 points, seven boards, and five assists. Sophomores Boone (14) and Aveion Chenualt (21) finished in double figures.
Jaylen Davis’ 17 first-half points kept Madison Central within shouting distance at the half (34-25) but the Broncos’ hot shooting continued after halftime.
