LEXINGTON – Attention does not always equal importance for Kentucky football.
Stars always garner the majority of the headlines, and much of the focus of preseason camp is directed toward newcomers who might contribute or potential breakout candidates. However, some players don’t fit into any of those categories but remain essential to the team’s goals.
Here are five under-the-radar ex-factors for Kentucky this season who fall somewhere between stars like Chris Rodriguez and hyped freshmen like Trevin Wallace.

There has been no shortage of excitement about the role Kentucky’s tight end could play in new offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s scheme, but the majority of the attention has been devoted to Keaton Upshaw, who is expected to miss the entire season with an injury; Brenden Bates, a projected breakout candidate and Izayah Cummings, the former Male star who has earned raves after moving from wide receiver to tight end this month.
