UK’s “Pick Nick” campaign has drawn a lot of attention to Nick Richards’ candidacy for an All-America slot, but it is Immanuel Quickley who we should be talking about as the team’s SEC Player of the Year candidate. He and Richards are both in the hunt for the league’s MVP award, among a few other contenders from around the south, and Quickley might’ve separated himself in the race with his 26-point outing against Florida.
After a tie game at halftime, Quickley scored 22 with 4-of-6 made three-pointers in the second half alone. He went 7-of-11 from the field and hit all four of his free throw tries in that span as Kentucky outscored Florida, 34-28, in the second half to win the game.
