Team USA cannot catch a break leading up to this year’s FIBA World Cup as players are still stepping away from the team.
Stars from across the NBA continue to withdraw their names from consideration for the final roster, with the most recent withdrawal being former Kentucky Wildcats point guard and current Sacramento Kings centerpiece De’Aaron Fox.
Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes reported earlier today that Fox dropped out to “focus on the upcoming season with (a) goal of making (the) playoffs.”
Fox was promoted from Team USA’s Select Team to the main roster and had a great opportunity to play backup point guard behind Kemba Walker but, just like many other players, he opted to save his body the extra wear and tear and shift his attention to his season with the Kings.
