The University of Florida has its next head football coach in Dan Mullen, who served as the Gators’ offensive coordinator from 2005-08. A two-time national champion in Gainesville, Mullen returns to bring the program back to the top of college football after several years of mediocrity under Will Muschamp and Jim McElwain.
It’s the perfect hire for Florida, but it’s a great hire for Kentucky, too.
Mullen had the Cats’ number in his nine seasons at Mississippi State, where he was the second-winningest coach in school history. Kentucky had only one win against the Bulldogs during Mullen’s tenure, giving it a 1-8 record against its SEC West rival.
