After a big game against Florida in Week 3, Johnson followed that up with a monster performance against Missouri this weekend, recording a career-high 11 tackles to go with a sack. Of his 11 tackles, three came on third downs that forced a Missouri punt. Seven of his tackles came on plays where the Tigers gained three yards or less.
It's unheard of for an interior defensive lineman to have that kind of performance, so it should be no surprise Johnson was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Johnson is the second Wildcat to earn a weekly honor from the league office after freshman corner Chris Westry was named SEC Freshman of the Week following UK's win at South Carolina.
