Coach K insists college hoops corruption isn’t happening

Mike Krzyzewski tried to do the same yesterday and is rightly being slammed by the national media.

When asked about the college hoops trial at Duke Media Day, Coach K tried to downplay the role of shoe companies in the sport, claiming that all the shady dealings to land top players “is not what’s happening.”

Dan Wetzel, who has been in the courtroom for the duration of the college hoops trial, makes an excellent point this morning: even if Coach K doesn’t know about the corruption — and Lance Thomas’ jewelry, Corey Maggette, and Marvin Bagley’s family’s EYBL team suggests otherwise — as arguably the sport’s most influential name, he should definitely have a better reaction than “it’s not happening.
