Chris Westry wins SEC Defensive Player of Week Award

The most promising true freshman for UK thus far, Chris Westry continues to give the Cats' secondary a much-needed boost.

Kentucky Wildcats true freshman corner Chris Westry has been named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com for his performance in UK's 26-22 victory over South Carolina on Saturday.

Westry made several big plays against the Gamecocks to help the Cats score their first SEC road win since 2009 and the Wildcats' first win at South Carolina since 1999. Westry made two big plays in the third quarter, getting a quarterback hurry to help stall a USC drive before a pass breakup in the end zone forced a field goal attempt after SC had driven deep into UK's red zone.
