With the college football preseason comes watch list season. This morning, Kentucky junior running back Chris Rodriguez was named to the watch list for the Maxwell Award, presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
Last season, Rodriguez led the Cats in rushing with 785 yards and 11 touchdowns despite missing two games due to COVID-19 protocols. He averaged an SEC-high 6.6 yards per carry, which ranked 17th nationally, and was fifth in the SEC in rushing yards per game (87.2). The McDonough, Georgia native totaled 105 consecutive carries without being tackled behind the line of scrimmage and gained positive yardage on 116 of his 119 total attempts.
