Kentucky mens soccer (8-0-4) was able to overcome a three-goal second half by West Virginia (4-6-3) to force a draw in the dying moments of the match on Saturday.
The Cats came out of the gate firing on all cylinders as defender Luis Grassow finished an impressive scissor kick in the 6’ to give Kentucky an early lead.
The onslaught wasn’t over yet as just six minutes later Danish midfielder Casper Grening fired home an unassisted shot that nestled into the corner, giving the Cats a 2-0 advantage in under 15 minutes.
Something changed on the pitch nearing the end of the first half though: the Cats looked lethargic, unorganized and complacent and eventually WVU capitalized on that, getting one goal back before the break courtesy of forward Adam Burchell.
