UK head coach John Calipari was just as surprised as the rest of us when he found out Kentucky’s opponent for the CBS Sports Classic this weekend had been switched from UCLA to North Carolina.
Released to the general public early afternoon on Wednesday, Calipari said he first heard about the possibility of a change late Tuesday evening, but didn’t have an official confirmation till just a few hours before fans found out.
“They had talked about it that morning, yesterday morning, (heard something about it) late the night before, but it was late,” Calipari said. “All I said was, “We need to have it (confirmed) by noon because we’re doing all this stuff, now we have to totally change.
