Young teams struggling early on is a trademark of the John Calipari Era. After back-to-back losses, Calipari and his staff delivered some hard truths in the Joe Craft Center this week.
“The individual meetings we had, it’s probably the first time guys heard the truth about how they’re playing, ever” Calipari told reporters today. “Or, [it was the first time they] were told they’re not — you can’t lead when you don’t care about the other guy. Can’t lead when you have any disrespect. If they don’t respect you, they’re not going to follow. This is not high school where you’re the best player and whether they like you or not, they follow.
