The Kentucky head coach will meet with 2019 five-star guard Tyrese Maxey today. Maxey is ranked No. 12 in the Rivals 2019 rankings.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Texas native doesn’t have the offer sheet that you may expect from a five-star player, but there’s a reason why. It’s because UK is the perceived leader but if it’s not Kentucky that lands Maxey he seems likely to end up staying in Texas.
Maxey’s father, Tyrone Maxey, was named director of recruiting at SMU back in August. Schools like Kansas, Duke and other traditional bluebloods may realize that if the Cats can’t pull him away from SMU than no one can.
