Against Ole Miss, Calipari took the ball out of the hands of his 30-minutes-per-game point guard, Devin Askew, to see how Davion Mintz looked running the show. Mintz finished the game with eight assists, the most by any player in any game this season, and everything looked better on both ends of the court with Askew out of the picture.
After the game, Calipari told Tom Leach on his postgame radio show, “I liked what it did.
