Dan McDonnell wasn’t in a position to be picky.
His Louisville baseball team had been swept at Florida State last weekend, and it entered Tuesday’s tilt with rival Kentucky in need of any win it could manage.
But McDonnell — whose team has proven it can win with fireworks — was particularly pleased with a 4-2 win against the Wildcats at Jim Patterson Stadium in a game that lacked Louisville’s standard sparkle.
“(Our) offense is averaging almost 10 runs a game, but I told them ‘You’re not gonna score 10 every game,’” McDonnell said.
