Every Monday, I break down the offensive performance from the Cats in a down and distance situation. This can really tell you the strengths and weaknesses of a an offense. For instance, UK has struggled in 3rd and short this year, showing they don’t have a true bruising back to get the tough yards. And it really burned them against Florida. That doesn’t mean there were not positives. In fact, Sawyer Smith was more effective than Terry Wilson in some situations. Below is the breakdown for each situation:
1st Down Combined Season Stats Breakdown: Sawyer Smith was very effective through the air most of the game, completing 7 of his first 10 passes with a touchdown.
Run: 18 rushes for 74 yards
Pass: 10-17, 103 yards, 1 TD
Run: 55 rushes for 355 yards, 5 TD (1 fumble lost)
Pass: 25-44, 300 yards, 2 TD, 1 sack allowed
