Just when you thought UK was done for the day, the YAHTZEE dice were brought out for round two. Top JUCO safety Lonnie Johnson just pledged his commitment to Kentucky, choosing the Wildcats over Georgia and West Virginia.
Johnson is considered one of the top two safeties in the JUCO ranks according to 247Sports, and was listed as a four-star prospect out of high school. He committed to Ohio State as a senior, and ended up signing LOI’s with both Iowa State and Western Michigan before taking the JUCO route.
The Garden City CC product will immediately step in and compete for the starting safety spot alongside Mike Edwards, giving the Cats arguably one of the most impressive secondaries in the SEC going into next year.
