He’s baaaaack. Bobby Petrino has been hired as the new head coach at Missouri State. The school announced the news this morning and will introduce Petrino at a press conference tomorrow.
Former Baylor coach Art Briles was reportedly also under consideration for the position, but ultimately, Missouri State went with Petrino, who was fired by Louisville in the middle of the 2018 season. The Bears, who compete in the Missouri Valley Conference in the FCS, finished last with a 1-10 record.
Sure, Petrino is a big name that will draw a lot of attention to a small program, but I think Bruce Feldman put it best on Twitter a few minutes ago:
